Moment in Time

this moment – A Friday ritual. A photo/s capturing a moment from the week that may or may not have words. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment you want to pause, savour and remember.

We Made It... Sleepless

Well what do you know? We made it... or more to the point thank goodness, the Pilot didn't take the first left at Albuquerque, (thanks Bugs).
Let me say the measure of this land is vast and wide and over 4hrs on the plane and at 300km per hour I can believe it. Mind you being on an overnight flight, I nor for that matter anyone else got to see its vastness or beauty.
Not to worry though as I had the pleasure in selecting the best of the crap crop of the movie selection. Yes that's right "Zookeeper", oh what a joy to behold animals that can speak to us stupid humans. Thank you for the deliriously funny plot and humour, Kevin James. Or was it that I was delirious from the lack of sleep and watching with the only eye that could still focus?

Besides the antics and goings on of Griffin the Zookeeper (Kevin James) and Bernie the Gorilla (Nick Nolte) Amelie was on her best behaviour, still in her pyjamas as we had to wake her up after only 2 hours sleep at home. She didn't complain, whinge or cry but rather couldn't stop chattering.
Finally Amelie fell asleep on the flight thereby getting another 2 hours of needed rest but by doing so, I had the pleasure of being kicked a multitude of times in my tummy (yes I had to cross my legs, just in case) for the entirety of the trip. Needless to say I arrived in Sydney sleepless.
It didn't matter all in all, as We made it...  Picked up by my Papa I knew I could get some shut eye on the way to their place. Who was I kidding?
1. I had forgotten the amount of traffic and stopping and starting in Sydney.
2. I had forgotten how badly my Father drives.
3. I had forgotten how much Amelie could chatter.
So needless to say I arrived at my parents place sleepless. Yet We made it...
to be continued.......  after I get some sleep!

Task Master!

I've worked a variety of jobs in my life so far.

Helping my Father do his fourth job of the day as a Contract Cleaner and doing the obligatory Sales Assistant at the department store during high-school (why I was put in the underwear department is beyond me). I then spent 8 years as a Visual Merchandiser or for the layman I was a Window Dresser (yes, like in the movie Mannequin) I must say, in those times I received many an offer to go out, the problem was (not that there is anything wrong with that) they were mainly from men, go figure?

After which there was a small stint at a warehouse and then 10 years driving a bus through Sydney. Now I am a Father, by far the toughest job of all!

I'm telling you this as I have slaved *giggle* 2 years as a home dad and though I love it, we still need to pay those extra bills, like food, who would ever have thought? So I have decided to send Amelie out to earn her keep!

Yes you heard me. My free loader will be delivering those colourful magazines full of entertaining and informative articles (you guessed it, Junk mail). I of course, as a responsible guardian will be accompanying her so she gets to know the route and also will assist at times pushing the stroller.

Big pile of junk mail from Verizon

You see, I think it's never too early to teach that things don't come freely in this life and one must learn to fend for themselves. So every Tuesdays and Thursdays (after her Kindie) she will be learning this very valuable lesson!

Nothing is Free
OK maybe that!

Or as I suspect it will be my good self not only delivering all the papers whilst my Task Master sits back in the pram that I will be pushing, eating fruit and chocolate then wanting to stop at every playground on the way.

How could she do this to me? Has my CEO no pity???

Back

Back from our trip interstate. Surprisingly the flight there and back went quite well.

Amelie enjoyed her visit to the grandparents very much. I ate myself silly to the point where I am now 7kg heavier. I'm glad I was still allowed to travel with the extra baggage I was carrying.

We especially enjoyed visiting my dear friends Martin and Michael who happen to live on a gorgeous little island just north of Sydney, Beautiful! Our time there was too short.

Tired my girl out when we took her to the zoo where she walked most of the day, but she enjoyed it immensely. Loved the elephants and monkeys.

Settled in now, glad to be back actually.

My girl surprised me on how well she adapts to different surroundings. Still, next time we go away we'll go somewhere a little closer. A 5 hour flight oh boy what a big country this is.
